The Chiefs of Idjerhe Central Oguedion in Idjerhe Kingdom, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, have unanimously endorsed the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for a second term in office. The endorsement was made during a press conference held on Sunday, September 14, at the Oguedion in Jesse Town, the traditional headquarters of the kingdom.
The chiefs, representing the two ruling houses; Udurhie and Uduaka, passed a vote of explicit confidence on Governor Oborevwori and President Bola Tinubu, citing their remarkable developmental achievements across the state and the nation since assuming office. They expressed satisfaction with the governor’s leadership style and commitment to infrastructure and human capital development in Delta State.
Speaking at the event, the Unuevworo of Idjerhe Central Oguedion, High Chief Dr. Solomon Ojariafe, praised the governor for appointing sons of Idjerhe Kingdom into key positions, notably Hon. Barr. John Nani, Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), and Hon. Blessing Achoja, member representing Ethiope West in the State House of Assembly.
The chiefs urged the governor to address key areas of need in the kingdom. They appealed for improved electricity supply, particularly through the electrification of communities to enhance living standards and economic activities. They also called for the construction and rehabilitation of critical roads, including Ukuedejor Road and College Road through Jesse Town Main Market to Ugbomoja Waterside Junction—routes vital to transportation and commerce in the area.
On education, the chiefs requested the reopening of the long-closed Idjerhe Grammar School and the provision of educational infrastructure, materials, and capacity-building programs for teachers to improve the quality of education across the kingdom.
Similarly, on the alleged suspension of the following chiefs of the Idjerhe Central Oguedion, High Chief Solomon Ojariafe, The Unuevworo of Idjerhe kingdom, Chief Michael Onakposegha, Chief Benson Esemuede, Chief Lucky Emefe, Chief Odoji Dimiyo Emakuneye and Chief Ese Iku, the Oguedion said that the suspension is null and void and of no effect, unconstitutional, lack merit and should be disregarded at all levels.
Hon. Blessing Achoja, who was present at the press conference, commended the chiefs for their unity and support of Governor Oborevwori’s administration. He emphasized the governor's dedication to the development of Idjerhe and advised the chiefs to maintain a clear distinction between politics and traditional leadership for effective governance and sustained growth.
Achoja also announced the donation of a 500KVA transformer by Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, member representing Ethiope West Federal Constituency, to address the electricity challenges in the area. He reiterated the commitment of all elected representatives to continue supporting the development of Idjerhe Kingdom.
The event was attended by over sixty chiefs from the Idjerhe Central Oguedion. They reaffirmed that the kingdom remains peaceful and united, stressing that peace remains the foundation for progress, which aligns with the values upheld by both the governor and the traditional council.
