Sapele Local Government Launches Emblem Appeal and Pays Tribute to Unknown Soldiers: Hon. Inoaghan delivers heartfelt address

The Sapele Local Government Council held a momentous event today Monday, 15th January 2024,  at the Cenotaph, AT& P Roundabout, Sapele, Delta State. to launch the Emblem Appeal and honor the unknown soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including the Executive Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Hon. Eugene Okpeh Inoaghan, and other prominent community leaders.

During his address, Hon. Inoaghan spoke passionately about the significance of the occasion. He expressed his gratitude to the attendees and emphasized the importance of remembering and honoring the unknown soldiers who fought for the freedom of the entire nation.

Accompanying Hon Eugene Inoaghan were other respected figures, including the Vice Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Hon Vincent Ayomanor, and the leader of the Sapele Legislative Arm, Rt Hon Churchill Ayomanor. Additionally, Mr. Anthony E. Okorodas, the Administrative Judge of Sapele Local Judicial Division, and Hon. Felix Ayemidejor, the Secretary of Sapele Local Government Council, were also present at the event. Also in attendance was Hon. Austine Ayemidejor, commissioner in charge of Asaba airport.

The Emblem Appeal, launched during the event, aims to provide support to veterans who have been injured or disabled while serving their country. The funds raised through this appeal will be utilized to enhance welfare and rehabilitation programs for these heroes, ensuring they receive the necessary care and support they deserve.

During the even Dr Johnson Esiri   urged the community to contribute generously to the Emblem Appeal. He emphasized that even the smallest donations would make a significant difference in improving the lives of the veterans. The appeal serves as an opportunity for the community to express gratitude and compassion towards those who have selflessly dedicated themselves to the nation's security and well-being.

The event was not only a launch for the Emblem Appeal but also a moment to reflect on the values embodied by the unknown soldiers' courage, unity, and sacrifice. 

Preaching at the event, Pastor Muwarure called upon the community to work together, setting aside differences, to build a stronger and more prosperous Sapele. By promoting unity and development, adding that no matter what, Nigerians should keep faith that the sacrifices made by these brave heroes were not in vain.

The chairman, sapele local government council Hon. Inoaghan said in his speech " I am very delighted to receive and welcome you all to this ceremony. This is a day set aside by the federal government of Nigeria to remember, honor and celebrate our fallen past heroes who laid down their lives for the peace of the nation" after his speech, he gave a donation of the sum of 200thousand naira to the curse of the retired soldiers present.

He then concluded his address by expressing his heartfelt appreciation to all the distinguished guests, community leaders, and citizens of Sapele who attended the event. He urged everyone to remember and honor the unknown soldiers, while also pledging their wholehearted support to the Emblem Appeal. The event served as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Sapele community to the welfare of veterans and the progress of the city.

As the event came to an end, the attendees left with a renewed sense of duty and determination to support the Emblem Appeal and honor the memory of the unknown soldiers.
