In a major victory against child trafficking, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on illicit drug and human trafficking, Evang. Omasan Mabiaku, has successfully dismantled a notorious gang that operated across Lagos, Edo, Bayelsa, and Delta States for a decade.
Acting on credible intelligence, Mabiaku and his security team apprehended several members of the gang, leading to the recovery of victims and the arrest of the perpetrators. The breakthrough came after an intense investigation, culminating in the arrest of three syndicate members—Mr. Ezekiel Akporero, Juliana Juba, and Amaka Ndidi—in Ughelli.
The gang members were caught red-handed attempting to traffic two teenage girls, Blessing Felix (11 years old) and Favour Ejimeyowe (13 years old), to Benin Republic for the purpose of prostitution. Shockingly, it was revealed during questioning that the teenagers had been sold by Mr. Ezekiel Akporero to Juliana Juba, who then sold them to Amaka Ndidi for a sum of one hundred and fifty thousand Naira.
Amaka Ndidi, who was planning to transport the victims to Benin Republic the next day, was foiled by the timely intervention of law enforcement, thanks to an intelligence report. The suspects have now been handed over to the police, who have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted before they are brought to court to face justice.
Evang. Omasan Mabiaku reaffirmed the State Government's unwavering commitment to eradicating illicit drug and human trafficking. He urged the public to remain vigilant and continue providing valuable information to assist the government in its efforts to eliminate the heinous crimes of drug and human trafficking in the state.
