The Rotary Club of Sapele celebrated a momentous occasion today as Rotarian Churchill Enyerevwia Ayomanor was installed as their 7th president at the Tossenant 3 event center. The ceremony commenced promptly at 1:30 PM with a heartfelt prayer, followed by the singing of the national anthem and recognition of esteemed dignitaries, including past presidents.
Outgoing president Rotarian Ogheneveaire Efevberha Ogodo delivered a poignant valedictory message, expressing gratitude to God for a successful tenure. "My heart is filled with joy," she stated, highlighting the club's commitment to philanthropy. Under her leadership, the club paid school fees for ten children, celebrated International Girls' Child Day, and provided soft loans to local business owners.
As Rotarian Ayomanor took the oath of office, the board of directors for the 2025-2026 term was also inducted, alongside several new members. This transition marks a significant step forward for the club as it continues its mission of service.
In an interview following the installation, Ayomanor expressed his gratitude and excitement for the role. "I thank God for a successful installation. We have seven key project areas, and some are already underway. My core focus will be to serve humanity," he emphasized, underscoring the importance of community support.
The new president also shared the theme for the year: "Unite for Good," encouraging club members to work together in all endeavors. His commitment to service is deeply rooted in his character and background, having been born into the distinguished Ayomanor family, known as one of Sapele's founding families.
Ayomanor's educational journey began at Okotie-Eboh Primary School, followed by Okotie-Eboh Secondary School. He obtained his degree from the prestigious Ambrose Ali University in Edo State, showcasing a dedication to education and community.
His political career has been marked by significant contributions to public service. Serving as a supervisory counselor for the environment from 2019 to 2013, he was also elected as a leader of the seventh Assembly Sapele Legislative Arm from 2021 to 2024, where he was recognized for his vibrant leadership.
In a brief interview, Chief Owumi praised Ayomanor, stating, "He has been like a brother to me. I know he will excel in this role, and I will support him every step of the way." This sentiment was echoed by Rotarian Tosan Happy Mine, a past assistant governor, who expressed his unwavering support for Ayomanor's presidency.
The event was graced by numerous dignitaries, including the SSA on media to the Delta State governor, Hon. Eburajolo Chris Wale. He shared his thoughts on the importance of humanitarian work, saying, "When you're honored for humanitarian efforts, it feels significant. Rotary is about giving back, and I wish Churchill all the best as he leads Sapele Gateway."
The festive atmosphere was palpable, with laughter and camaraderie filling the room as members and guests celebrated the future of the Rotary Club. As Rotarian Ayomanor embarks on this new journey, the community eagerly anticipates the positive changes he will bring, united in the spirit of service and fellowship.
