Olorogun John Nani, Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), has delivered a strong message to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ethiope West: only registered individuals will be recognized as party members moving forward. This admonition came during the APC’s first official meeting of the year, hosted at Chief Emmanuel Ighomena’s residence in Oghara.
Setting the stage for the meeting, Nani underscored the need for discipline and structure within the party. He clarified that membership is no longer based on claims or assumptions; it strictly requires formal registration. “If you’re not registered, you cannot legitimately consider yourself a party member,” he stated emphatically.
The chairman expressed stern disapproval of what he termed “fictitious membership.” He made it clear that the APC will no longer tolerate individuals who attempt to associate with the party without being officially documented. This stance is expected to enhance the integrity of party membership as they prepare for future elections.
Nani further emphasized the importance of recognition and participation within the party. He outlined that only those who have registered will have the opportunity to engage in party activities and internal processes. “My advice is that everyone must come out to register,” he urged, highlighting the collective responsibility to fortify the party’s grassroots base.
Reinforcing Nani’s views, party executives revealed that an APC e-registration and INEC registration exercise would take place from January 25 to January 31, 2026. This initiative is compulsory for individuals aspiring to vote or stand for election in the forthcoming electoral cycle.
The meeting drew the presence of several party leaders and stakeholders who largely echoed Nani’s sentiments. They stressed that comprehensive registration is essential for maintaining party unity, legitimacy, and readiness for elections.
The gathering also provided a platform for party leaders to reaffirm their allegiance to Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and President Bola Tinubu. Participants commended the governor’s MORE Agenda, recognizing its positive impact throughout the state and pledging ongoing support as the next election approaches.
In response to Nani’s emphasis on registration, ward leaders from Oghara, Jesse, and Mosogar committed to disseminating the message to grassroots members. They assured that efforts would be made to mobilize compliance ahead of the registration deadline.
As the APC gears up for a crucial electoral season, Nani’s call for strict registration is poised to serve as a foundational strategy for ensuring the party's strength and legitimacy in Ethiope West, helping them achieve electoral success.
