The newly posted Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Sapele, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Omo- Uwuigbe Nosakhare, has pledged to strengthen the existing partnership between the Nigeria Police and journalists in the Sapele.
CSP Uwuigbe made the commitment when members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sapele Correspondents Chapel, led by its Chairman, Comrade Nelson Agbajor, paid him a courtesy visit.
The delegation formally welcomed the new DPO and used the occasion to introduce members of the chapel while reaffirming their commitment to sustaining the cordial relationship between journalists and the police in Sapele.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Agbajor described the engagement as part of the Chapel’s efforts to promote mutual understanding, cooperation and effective communication between the media and security agencies.
In his response, CSP Uwuigbe expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the positive relationship that has existed between the police and journalists in Sapele.
He assured the journalists of his readiness to maintain and deepen the partnership, stressing the importance of constructive engagement in promoting effective policing and community safety.
The DPO also encouraged journalists to bring to his attention any issues affecting police personnel in the course of their duties, assuring them of his openness to dialogue and collaboration.
The engagement underscored the shared responsibility of the police and the media in strengthening public confidence, promoting security and advancing the interests of the Sapele community.
