"Delta State Governor Promotes Rural Connectivity to Curb Rural-Urban Migration"

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, emphasized the state government's efforts to address rural-urban migration by connecting  rural communities through infrastructure development, including roads. The governor made this announcement while inspecting completed and ongoing projects that were scheduled for inauguration to mark his administration's 100 days in office.

The inspected projects included the 2.6km Okpolo-Enhwe/Uwheru Road with 4.5km side drains (phase 2), the 2.4km Ugolo-Okpe/Okorikpehre Road, and the 4.42km Obi-Ibabu/Ibabu Road with a 2km drain at Onicha-Ukwuani in Isoko South, Okpe, and Ndokwa West Local Government Areas.

Additionally, the governor inspected various projects at the Delta State University of Science and Technology in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area. These projects consisted of the Administrative Building, Vice Chancellor's Lodge, Principal Staff Quarters, University Staff School, and a 2km Internal Road.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, Governor Oborevwori stated that road construction plays a vital role in promoting development in rural areas. He assured that his administration would continue to interconnect more communities across the state with improved infrastructure.

The governor emphasized that the goal was to bring development and infrastructure to rural areas, similar to the approach taken by China, where significant development occurred without necessitating the relocation of rural residents to cities.

During his visit to the University of Science and Technology in Ozoro, Governor Oborevwori expressed admiration for the Administrative Building, which featured 42 offices, including those of the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Senate Services, and Registrar. He commended the university management for executing various projects using internally generated revenue, particularly the construction of 2km internal roads within the university premises.

Governor Oborevwori highlighted that the Administrative Building, funded entirely by the government, was a world-class structure. He announced that it would be inaugurated as part of the activities commemorating the administration's 100 days in office. The governor also inspected the Vice Chancellor's lodge, which was nearing completion, and other lodges for principal officers, such as the Bursar, Registrar, and Librarian.

He praised the Vice Chancellor, Professor Jacob Oboreh, for his exceptional leadership and the numerous infrastructure projects he had undertaken, both through internally generated revenue and personal initiatives. The governor expressed confidence that these buildings would be well-maintained in the long term, thanks to the provisions put in place for their maintenance.
