A fatal accident occurred on Tuesday morning on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as a truck veered off the road and fell from the Otedola Bridge. Sadly, an unidentified male passenger lost his life in the tragic incident.
Authorities have advised motorists to seek alternative routes to avoid getting stuck in traffic congestion caused by the accident.
According to Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the accident took place in the early hours of the day. The truck driver was descending the hill near Mobil Filling Station, attempting to avoid a collision with another vehicle. Unfortunately, he lost control of the truck, resulting in a collision with the side of the bridge.
The impact caused the driver's compartment to hang precariously over the bridge, while wheat, the cargo being transported, spilled onto the road, obstructing the entire route beneath the bridge leading to Otedola Estate.
Tragically, a young adult male who was one of the truck's occupants fell off the bridge during the incident and succumbed to his injuries.
