A sensational scene unfolded at a wedding ceremony in Port Harcourt when a pregnant woman, accompanied by a group of thugs, stormed the church, claiming to be the groom's girlfriend.
The woman alleged that the groom had abandoned her after impregnating her and subsequently marrying another woman. According to her, he had been avoiding her ever since she revealed her pregnancy.
The incident took place on Saturday at the Methodist Church in Dline, Port Harcourt, after the wedding ceremony had already been solemnized by the officiating minister.
In a disruptive turn of events, the woman and her accomplices attacked the groom, ripping apart his wedding suit. The bride, overcome with shock and anguish, shed tears while the horrified guests looked on.
The woman asserted that she had been in a relationship with the groom for four years and that they had plans to marry. She expressed her astonishment upon learning about his impending nuptials with someone else. Determined to halt the wedding and seek justice for herself and her unborn child, she presented evidence of their relationship and the pregnancy.
In response, the groom vehemently denied any knowledge of the woman or responsibility for her pregnancy. He claimed that he had never met her before and accused her of fabricating the story to defame him and ruin his marriage. He professed his love for his wife and insisted on his faithfulness, portraying himself as a victim of blackmail and extortion.
The church authorities swiftly intervened to restore order and diffuse the tense situation. Advising the parties involved to resolve their dispute amicably and peacefully, they also offered prayers for the newlyweds and extended their well-wishes for a happy married life.
