In a momentous event that brought together leaders from the People's Democratic Party, the Oviore community, and Ward 5 Ovu, a warm reception was held to honor Rt Hon. Lovette Ediri Idisi, former representative of the Eathiope East federal constituency. The occasion marked his appointment as the Executive Assistant to the Delta State Government Liaison in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The festivity, which took place on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Chief Idisi's residence in Oviore Ovu, Eathiope East local government area, Delta State, not only celebrated Hon. Idisi's achievement but also paid tribute to Governor Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborewvori for his recent victory at the Supreme Court over Senator Ovie Omo Agege of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The grand celebration saw the esteemed presence of King Ukori 1st, the Ovie of Abgon Kingdom, and King Ogurumeme, who joined in celebrating Hon. Idisi. Expressing gratitude to God, King Ogurumeme acknowledged the deserving nature of Hon. Idisi's appointment and rejoiced over Governor Hon. Oborewvori's triumph. He stated, "Our hearts are filled with joy for Eathiope East as this appointment is bestowed upon our illustrious son. We are indeed grateful to the governor." Further emphasizing the significance of the victory, he added, "This victory is not only for Eathiope East but for all."
Hon. Idisi, in his expression of gratitude to God and the governor, conveyed his happiness at being deemed worthy of such an honor. He also extended his gratitude on behalf of Eathiope East and Ovu Ward 5. He announced that the grand finale of the celebration would be a Thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church, Goshen Parish in Ovu on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
During an interview with journalists, Hon. Idisi emphasized that the election victory belonged not only to the Urhobo people and his party but also served as a consolidation of the previous government's efforts. He stressed the importance of continuity in order to avoid broken projects, as a new government from a different party might not carry forward the initiatives of its predecessor. He stated, "This victory is not just for the Urhobo people but for the entire Delta State."
Expanding on the king's sentiments, Hon. Idisi highlighted Eathiope East's national-level service and the gathered experience that would now be utilized in liaising on behalf of Governor Oborewvori and the people of Delta State in Abuja. He expressed his belief that this experience would not only benefit himself but also the people of Ovu and all those with good intentions toward the governor.
In reference to Governor Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborewvori's triumph at the Supreme Court over Senator Ovie Omo Agege of the APC the previous day, Hon. Idisi acknowledged the victory as well-deserved. He assured the people of Delta State that better opportunities, empowerment, and the dividends of democracy would be visible throughout the region, even reaching the grassroots.
Chief Adifue John, the ward chairman, hailed Idisi's appointment as a significant testament to the people of Oviore, Ovu, and Eathiope East. He expressed gratitude to the governor for recognizing one of their own for such a prominent position. Chief Mike Adiotomre, a PDP stalwart in Eathiope East, commended Hon. Idisi's appointment and praised Governor Oborewvori's victory at the Supreme Court. He stated, "Lovette Idisi's appointment is proof of his hard work and commitment, and it will bring further development to our great state."
The event was graced by dignitaries, including His Royal Majesty, the Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, King Ogurumeme Ukori, as well as political leaders such as Chief Ighoyota Amori, Chief James Akpooighuri, Mrs. Tessy Torum, Chief Precious Ikposu, Chief Idogho, and many others who joined in celebrating this momentous occasion.
