Sen. EDE Dafinone, senator representing Delta Central Senatorial district , flags off his empowerment Program and palliatives distribution to residents of Delta Central Senatorial district which comprise of Ughelli South, Ughelli North, Ethiope West, Ethiope East, Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie local government Areas today 26th July, 2024.
The items which comprise of food items and other palliatives were provided for those in the Senatorial district as the items were shared per local government Area.
Speaking at the occasion, the constituents were made to understand that the empowerment is aimed at ameliorating the pains of the people as the economy is going through a hard process of recovery that started with the removal of fuel subsidy.
Sen. Ede Dafinone explained in his brief speech that the empowerment and palliatives includes, generators, fridges, grinding machines, hair dryers, Urea Fertilizers, sewing machines, vulcanizing machines, bags of rice, big legged pots, deep freezers, cans of palm oil and other items.
He said further that the empowerment will continue throughout his tenure as Senator and encouraged all that are present to be patient with the government, that anyone that do not have a palliative today, will get at another time, it is only going to be a matter of time, and the empowerment will go round.
He also said that he has been doing this empowerment for eighteen years and that for his one year in office, he deemed it fit to empower people to eliviate poverty so that the people will live well.
He thanked the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Bola Asiwaju Tinubu for taking the " Bull by the Horn" in removing the fuel subsidy at inception of office, a bold step that has set the economy of the nation on a right path of recovery.
He said, as he concluded that the palliatives are coming to cushion the fall out of government policies so that the people will see and know that the government is responsive and aware of their plights and hardship in the country.
The chief of Staff, Adelabu Bodjor, in a brief speech said that the various resipients of the palliatives should make sure they make good use of the items and the various ward leaders should be magnanimous in the distribution of the items .
The empowerment program came to a close with a goodwill message and a closing prayer.
