As Christians in Nigeria join their counterparts around the world to celebrate Christmas on December 25, 2024, the Area Commander of Sapele, ACP Innocent Umerie, has urged residents to embrace the spirit of the season by reflecting on the teachings of Jesus Christ.
ACP Umerie reassured residents of a peaceful and secure festive period, urging them to remain law-abiding, avoid unlawful activities, and stay vigilant. He emphasized the importance of cooperation with security agencies to maintain peace and order, reiterating that the police and other security forces have declared zero tolerance for criminal activities in the area.
ACP Umerie also called on citizens to use this season as an opportunity for prayer and reconciliation, both with God and with one another. He highlighted the values of love, unity, and charity as essential to building a stronger and more harmonious society.
"The best way to honor the birth of Christ is to emulate His example of selflessness and love," ACP Umerie stated. "Jesus Christ showed the ultimate act of love by sacrificing Himself for humanity. I encourage everyone to extend this love by helping the less privileged during this season."
The Area Commander further urged all residents to use the festive period for sober reflection and spiritual renewal, encouraging peaceful coexistence and tolerance among people of different faiths.
He noted:
“The birth of Jesus Christ is a call for reconciliation with God, promotion of peace, and unity. Let us embrace the values of freedom, sacrifice, generosity, and tolerance, which Christ exemplified. Together, we can work towards a better state and nation.”
Since assuming office, ACP Innocent Umerie has been instrumental in improving the security landscape in Sapele, enabling residents to feel safer and more secure. His commitment to protecting lives and property has earned him the trust and appreciation of the community.
Residents have expressed their gratitude for the enhanced security measures, which have significantly reduced crime and fostered a sense of peace throughout the area. As the community celebrates Christmas, ACP Umerie’s leadership serves as a reminder of the importance of unity, love, and security in building a better future for all.
