The Executive Assistant on Youth Development to the Delta State Governor, Mr. Stanley Eshanomi Eta, also known as Stanley Boss, has urged His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to prioritize the revitalization of the abandoned Deghele-Elume Polytechnic. He emphasized the importance of this project for the development of Deghele in Sapele Local Government Area, highlighting its potential to enhance educational opportunities and foster growth in the state.

However, this appeal was made during a recent visit to the Polytechnic site in Elume, where Mr. Stanley Boss addressed journalists, including a team of media professionals led by renowned journalist and public affairs analyst, Nelson Agbajor. The team conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the site to evaluate its current condition.

According to Stanley Boss and other residents of Deghele, the Polytechnic project was abandoned over a decade ago, despite the community donating land for its establishment. They lamented the missed opportunities for development, explaining that if the Polytechnic had been completed and made functional, it would have not only contributed to the area’s growth but also boosted Delta State’s economy by attracting investors and raising the standard of education.

In his appeal, Stanley Boss called on Governor Oborevwori, a leader with pan-Delta principles and Okpe heritage, to leverage his position to revive the institution. He stressed that the Polytechnic would serve as the only higher institution in the Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie (OSU) Federal Constituency, making it a crucial project for the area.

Nevertheless, residents expressed frustration that the abandoned site has been overtaken by weeds, with parts of the premises being used as farmland and storage for cash crops. They noted that a multi-million-naira hall, initially intended for administrative purposes, has been repurposed as a storage facility for cassava and other produce.

In the same vein, while commending Governor Oborevwori for his ongoing infrastructural developments across the state, Stanley Boss appealed for immediate attention to the abandoned Polytechnic project. He acknowledged the debates around the necessity of another Polytechnic in Delta State, given the existence of four universities, two polytechnics, and other technical institutions. However, he insisted that establishing a Polytechnic in the OSU constituency is vital for the state's progress.

"Your Excellency, we are proud of your achievements under the MORE Agenda, but I urge you to consider this critical project. OSU deserves a higher institution," Stanley Boss stated.
