In a significant show of support, Nel Xpress Magazine, a prominent media group based in Sapele, Delta State, has passed a vote of explicit confidence on Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District. The endorsement was made during an emergency editorial board meeting held on May 15, 2025, in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The group, known for its commitment to balanced and progressive reportage, hailed Senator Dafinone’s unwavering dedication, selfless service, and effective representation at the National Assembly. They described his performance as exemplary and deserving of public commendation.
Comrade Nelson Agbajor, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Nel Xpress Magazine, led the charge in reaffirming the media group’s confidence in the Senator. During a press briefing after the meeting, Agbajor praised Dafinone’s integrity and efficiency, stressing that he has surpassed expectations in his legislative duties.
Agbajor, who is also a respected media commentator and CEO of Inhispresence Live Media Network, an online platform focused on investigative journalism, dismissed negative reports surrounding the Senator’s record, calling them misleading and politically motivated.
According to the group, Senator Dafinone is a rare breed of politician who practices inclusive and people-centered leadership. His approach to governance, they said, aligns perfectly with the "Renewed Hope" agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reflecting a sincere commitment to positive change.
The editorial board noted that the Senator has maintained an open-door policy, making himself accessible to constituents while implementing projects that address the real needs of the people in Delta Central. His style of leadership, they emphasized, is both transparent and transformative.
Among his many achievements, the group cited infrastructural development, youth and women empowerment programs, and the facilitation of numerous federal projects. These, they stated, have improved the quality of life for thousands within the senatorial district.
Since taking office, Senator Dafinone has been a consistent advocate for his people. He has championed legislation and policies aimed at boosting economic growth, education, and social welfare in Delta Central and the Niger Delta at large.
His contributions include the completion of a world-class hostel at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), skill acquisition training for youth, distribution of starter packs for graduates, and financial support for women-owned businesses and widows.
Senator Dafinone has also provided transformers to various communities to improve electricity supply and has actively pushed for increased resource control and economic inclusion for the Niger Delta region.
Furthermore, the media group emphasized that his critics are often those who previously benefited from his generosity but are now driven by ulterior motives. They expressed confidence that these detractors would soon recognize the Senator’s value and rally behind him.
On the matter of a recent recall effort allegedly initiated by unnamed individuals, Nel Xpress dismissed the development as baseless and unproductive. The group described it as a "dead on arrival" scheme orchestrated by mischief-makers.
“Nel Xpress Media Group strongly condemns the so-called recall attempt. It is nothing more than a poorly scripted political distraction,” said Agbajor, adding that such efforts undermine the unity and progress of Okpe Kingdom, the Urhobo Nation, and Delta State.
He called on political stakeholders to unite in supporting Senator Dafinone’s vision and programs, which have already brought substantial dividends of democracy to Delta Central.
According to the group, the focus should shift from baseless attacks to constructive engagement that promotes development and democratic accountability.
“We recognize every citizen’s right to hold leaders accountable, but criticisms must be constructive, not driven by envy or personal vendetta,” Agbajor stressed during the press conference.
The motion to endorse Senator Dafinone was moved by Comrade Dorothy Egwe, Secretary General of the South-South Media Board, and seconded by Chemeke U. Ifeanyin from Edo State, further cementing unwavering support for the Senator.
The meeting, which was attended by key editorial members from across the South-South, concluded with a unanimous agreement to continue spotlighting leaders like Senator Ede Dafinone, whose work truly reflects the spirit of public service and democratic leadership.
