Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is set to officially launch the Delta State Widows Welfare Scheme on Monday, August 18, 2025. The event will take place at the Dome Event Centre in Asaba, starting at 10:00 a.m. The initiative aims to support 10,000 widows across the state, marking a significant step in improving their welfare.
Chief Isioma Okonta, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Social Investment and the Coordinator of the scheme, shared details of the program in a statement issued to journalists in Asaba. The scheme is designed to provide essential financial support and various empowerment packages to widows, helping them enhance their livelihoods and regain their independence.
