Delta Central Senatorial District witnessed a remarkable gathering of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders on Sunday, convening a high-level strategy meeting at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) in Effurun. The atmosphere was charged with determination as key leaders voiced their unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
This significant event aimed to strengthen internal cohesion within the APC, as participants emphasized the importance of preparation for what is set to be a defining general election in 2027. In attendance were senior government officials, influential party leaders, grassroots mobilizers, and party executives, all underscoring the strategic nature of the dialogue.
Discussions throughout the meeting focused on the necessity of rebuilding unity and instilling discipline within party ranks. The stakes could not be higher, as APC leaders expressed their intent to solidify the party’s organizational structure across Delta Central in anticipation of the looming electoral battle.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Keyamo, SAN, opened the meeting by proposing a motion for a loyalty declaration. He praised President Tinubu’s efforts in enhancing national security and economic stability, heralding a new dawn of progress for Nigeria under his leadership.
Keyamo also commended Governor Oborevwori for his ambitious infrastructural initiatives throughout Delta State, describing the ongoing projects as “unequalled” in both scale and impact. He stressed the need for party members to maintain unity as critical APC congresses approach, remarking that grassroots leaders play a vital role in determining political tickets.
Reinforcing Keyamo's sentiments, APC State Chairman Elder Omeni Sobotie pointed out a political realignment within Delta State, noting the shift in influence from the PDP to the APC. He urged for deeper grassroots engagement, advising members to heed the counsel of esteemed party elders to boost their chances of a landslide victory in 2027.
Delta Central APC Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, defined the senatorial district as the “political engine room” of the party in the state. He firmly warned against factional loyalties and internal divisions, declaring that Governor Oborevwori is the only recognized leader of the APC in Delta State.
“This is non-negotiable. Any allegiance outside this established framework is unacceptable,” Akpeki asserted, exuding confidence in his party’s direction. He unveiled several strategic reforms aimed at fortifying party structures, including mandatory monthly senatorial meetings and the formation of the Delta Central APC Caucus Committee.
This newly established committee will focus on strategic planning, conflict resolution, mobilization, and performance monitoring, with party leaders recognizing that discipline is crucial as they enter the electoral season. The mission ahead is too important to be compromised by indiscipline or fragmentation.
During the meeting, influential figures such as Senator Ede Dafinone and Hon. Ejiro Waive echoed the theme of unity, declaring it the APC’s most significant asset as they approach the 2027 elections. They expressed confidence that a united front would lead to electoral success.
Local Government APC chairmen present pledged their commitment to delivering maximum votes for President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, and all APC candidates. Their enthusiasm reflected a collective resolve to ensure the party’s triumph in the upcoming elections.
As the meeting concluded, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to repositioning the Delta Central APC as a disciplined, unified, and formidable political entity.
