In a devastating incident that unfolded on Tuesday, a truck veered off the Otedola Bridge along the bustling Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in the loss of one life. The victim, an unidentified young man, tragically fell from the bridge during the accident.
The lone accident occurred during the early hours of the day, as the truck driver was maneuvering down the hill from Mobil Filling Station towards Otedola. In an attempt to avoid a collision with another vehicle, the driver lost control of the truck and crashed into the side of the bridge.
The impact caused the driver's compartment to hang precariously from the bridge, while wheat, the cargo being transported, scattered across the road, obstructing the entire route leading to Otedola Estate beneath the bridge.
Authorities promptly responded to the scene, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA). Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed the unfortunate fatality and urged motorists to seek alternative routes to prevent getting caught in traffic congestion.
