*Enugu –* The wife of the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Lady Catherine Onyeme, has been conferred with an Award of Excellence by her alma mater, the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT). The recognition came during the university’s maiden International Conference of the Department of Quantity Surveying, themed *“The Quantity Surveyor’s Edge.”*
Lady Onyeme, an accomplished Quantity Surveyor and a proud graduate of ESUT, is currently pursuing her Doctorate Degree at the same institution. The award was presented to her by the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, Professor Aloysius Michael N. Okolie, who commended her for her professional achievements and dedication to service.
In his remarks, Prof. Okolie expressed pride in the institution’s alumni, stating that ESUT graduates continue to distinguish themselves in numerous professional fields. He described Lady Onyeme's award as "well deserved," adding that her contributions to both the profession and society at large reflect the values and training instilled by the university.
Responding to the honour, Lady Onyeme expressed gratitude to the university management and the Department of Quantity Surveying. She pledged to continue striving for excellence and contributing meaningfully to the development of society. She also encouraged young professionals, particularly women, to pursue their goals with passion and integrity.
Also recognised at the event was Hon. Chimobi Atu, who represents Enugu North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. His contributions to the development of the built environment and legislative support for the profession were acknowledged by the university.
