Sapele Town recorded another successful monthly environmental sanitation exercise today, as residents across the community turned out to support efforts aimed at keeping the town clean and healthy. The exercise reflected a growing commitment to public hygiene and a safer living environment for everyone.
The sanitation activity was supervised by the Secretary to the Local Government Council, **Hon. Raymond Overah**, alongside the **HOD Health**, Supervisors on Health and Environment, and members of the sanitation team. Their presence added proper coordination and accountability to the operation.
Key tasks carried out during the exercise included clearing clogged gutters, opening up blocked drainages, and removing debris dumped along major roadside areas. These actions were targeted at reducing flooding, limiting foul odour, and preventing the spread of diseases linked to poor waste disposal.
Several locations in Sapele were covered during the cleanup. Areas cleared included **New Road by Total Filling Station**, **Ajogodo by Hon. Anira’s residence**, and **Abeke Road by Texaco Junction**, where gutters and road edges were attended to in order to restore free water flow and improve the look of the surroundings.
The sanitation team also worked along **Mission Road by the cemetery** and within **Amukpe Market**, removing refuse and other materials that could block drainage channels or create unsafe conditions. These locations were given attention because of their daily traffic and the need to keep them orderly for public use.
There was reported **complete compliance** across Sapele during the exercise, showing strong community support for environmental responsibility. Residents were further encouraged to make cleanliness a daily habit, maintain their surroundings, and support government efforts by disposing of waste properly.
