Distinguished Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has consistently demonstrated the qualities of a true statesman ; a unifier, a bridge builder, and a detribalized Nigerian. At no time, either in his private or public life, has Senator Dafinone made any divisive statements or actions that could incite ethnic or political disharmony. As an educated legislator, he is known for his careful, strategic, and diplomatic approach to issues of national and regional importance.
Recently, some individuals seeking undue attention have attempted to misrepresent the Senator’s statement regarding the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) House in Warri. It is important to set the record straight: Senator Dafinone has not made any inflammatory or offensive remarks. His position was clear, factual, and rooted in the interest of peace and communal unity. Any contrary interpretation is misleading and should be disregarded.
In his official press statement addressing the crisis in Warri, Senator Dafinone called on the Federal Government to intervene proactively to prevent further escalation. This move should not be misconstrued; rather, it reflects his deep sense of patriotism, responsibility, and commitment to peace. His words and actions align with the values of unity, dialogue, and national cohesion, traits that define his leadership style.
The Senator has also openly condemned the destruction of the UPU House and all forms of violence arising from the crisis. As a man of peace and a passionate advocate for humanity, he firmly believes that violence is never a solution. His message is simple yet profound: Let dialogue and understanding prevail over hatred and conflict. This position affirms his identity as a peace ambassador and a true servant of the people.
Importantly, Senator Dafinone has never , and will never , incite tribal tensions. His belief is clear: Urhobos and Itsekiris are brothers and sisters who have coexisted peacefully for generations. As such, he continues to encourage mutual respect and harmony between both ethnic groups, recognizing that sustainable development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace.
Stakeholders and leaders from both the Urhobo and Itsekiri communities are therefore urged to align with Senator Dafinone’s message of reconciliation. Now, more than ever, there is a need to reject inflammatory comments, discourage acts of violence, and embrace constructive dialogue. Only through unity and mutual understanding can true progress and development be achieved in our region.
Senator Ede Dafinone remains committed to delivering the dividends of democracy to his constituents and ensuring responsible, inclusive governance through effective legislation. He stands firmly on the side of peace, unity, and progress, never on the side of division. His actions and words continue to reflect the maturity, wisdom, and vision of a true national leader.
